The Full Story

In 2017, I graduated with a degree in Psychology, driven by a deep passion for guiding and supporting others in understanding their struggles. As if that weren't exciting enough, that same year my husband, my dog, and I embarked on an exciting new adventure, relocating to the United States. It was a life-changing experience for me—a true turning point that opened up a whole new world for me.

This journey also sparked a new passion that now fulfills my life: helping dog owners understand and navigate their dogs' behaviors. I am incredibly grateful to be able to support and empower owners as they build stronger, more harmonious relationships with their dogs.

I've been passionate about dogs for as long as I can remember, always fascinated by how they learn to perform spectacular obedience behaviors and fun skills. When I moved from Costa Rica, I was amazed by the variety of dog care and training options available here.

In 2020, I relocated to Bella Vista, AR, where I spent nearly three years providing pet care services, including dog walks, visits, and boarding. During this time, I gained invaluable experience working with a wide range of breeds, temperaments, and ages. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of proper dog care and how to manage dogs based on their unique traits. It also taught me how to train dogs to develop good behavior both at home and in public settings.

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is the journey Chelsea and I have taken together. She has successfully completed many training programs and certificates from American Kennel Club (AKC) including Home Manners, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), CGC Urban, and CGC Advanced titles, which focus on teaching dogs good manners in various settings, from home to public environments. Currently, we are training with the goal of competing in Rally Obedience in the future. And, of course, I can’t forget to mention all the amazing tricks Chelsea has mastered along the way, which help reinforce obedience and good behavior.

By 2023, I realized I wanted to make an even greater impact on the lives of dogs and their families by supporting them with training. While caring for dogs, I often observed the challenges dog parents faced but didn’t know how to address—such as lunging at people, pulling on the leash, jumping on visitors, excessive excitement, not coming when called, not respecting personal space, and excessive barking at home, among others. I could relate to these behavioral challenges firsthand, as I had experienced some of them with my own dogs. To help, I began incorporating the same rules and boundaries we use with Chelsea, our own dog, into my customer's routines and learning how to teach them based on their individual needs and temperament. While they made progress during their stay, I noticed that the behaviors didn’t always stick once they returned home.

This realization inspired me to create Champs—a way for me to not only train dogs but also empower their families with the tools to establish sustainable routines that promote healthy, long-lasting behaviors. At Champs, my goal is to bridge the gap between training and everyday life, helping both dogs and their families achieve proper and polite manners.
